A Magical Journey: Interview with Crystal Practitioner Elise
In our fast-paced world, some people choose a different path. They connect deeply with ancient traditions, natural cycles, and their own inner power.
Today we're sharing a conversation with a crystal practitioner, Elise, who opens up about her spiritual journey.
She began by hiding books from her parents and has now grown into a guide for others.
Through her story, we get a glimpse into a practice that's often misunderstood by many.
Whether you're curious about spirituality, exploring your own spiritual path, or simply interested in different perspectives on personal growth, this interview offers valuable insights into a life filled with magic, purpose, and authenticity.
1. Could you share how your spiritual journey began? Was there a specific moment or experience that led you to explore magic, witchcraft, and paganism?
Since I was little, I've been very drawn to stories of wizards and witches. I had a sensitivity beyond the normal; I could sense the energies of people and environments.
I've always had a special and deep connection with nature and the creatures that inhabit it.
However, my real journey of study began when I was 14, following some paranormal experiences I had that frightened me a lot at first...
Then I told myself, "I can do two things: either I keep being afraid and not understanding what's happening to me, or I start studying and investigating what's going on."
So, I rolled up my sleeves and began studying spiritism, the paranormal, and esotericism.
I still remember that my first book was The Book of Mediums by Allan Kardec (quite a heavy read for a 14-year-old!), and I remember hiding it from my parents for months, reading it in secret...
As I continued studying and growing, I learned more and expanded my personal power, so I also began studying magic, witchcraft, divination, and I became more involved in paganism!
Today, after many years, this is my path and my job!
I work with my social media to talk about these topics, fighting the prejudice and the ignorance and helping practitioners in their magical journey through advice and tarot readings!
2. How has your spiritual practice evolved over the years, and what unexpected turns has your path taken?
I want to emphasize that the spiritual journey is never linear and is always in a state of constant change!
We ourselves, through magical practice, are in continuous transformation and growth.
In fact, my spiritual path has changed a lot over time...
As mentioned earlier, I started as a researcher of the paranormal and spiritism, but gradually I became more drawn to esotericism, magic, and witchcraft, and later to divination and paganism.
I've always allowed things to flow naturally and have studied and practiced whatever felt right for me at any given time, never forcing anything.
I define myself as an eclectic witch, as I don't follow any one specific tradition but instead admire many different cultures and practices.
Over the years, I've gathered as much knowledge as possible from various practices and traditions, and from that, I've created my own personal path, which is unique and right for me, allowing me to evolve as a magical being.
A particularly significant turning point, however, was my move to Scotland.
Although I am Italian, I've never felt particularly connected to Italian pagan traditions.
On the contrary, I feel a strong connection with Celtic and Norse paganism, so coming to Scotland really opened up my world!
3. Many people are curious about different spiritual traditions. How would you describe your particular approach to witchcraft and magic?
As I mentioned, I am an eclectic witch, so I don't follow just one tradition.
The paths I feel most connected to are Celtic and Norse paganism, although I have also studied shamanic, African, Mediterranean, and Eastern traditions throughout my life.
In my practice, I pray and worship the deities with consistency and dedication, and I have a very strong connection with my ancestors, spirit guides, and nature and its cycles.
I celebrate the Sabbaths of the Wheel of the Year to embrace every natural transformation.
Additionally, one of the things I try to emphasize is how magic doesn't always have to mean performing grand and solemn rituals, but instead can be a way of connecting with ourselves that allows us to raise our frequencies and become the best version of ourselves.
Magic is not just something we do, it is who we are!
We can infuse a little magic into every small daily action, whether it's simply enchanting our morning coffee, pulling a tarot card for guidance, or meditating to relax after a long day!
I apply magic and witchcraft to every small aspect of my life as a witch.
4. You mentioned that candles and crystals are a daily part of your practice. Could you walk us through what your daily spiritual routine looks like?
Absolutely!
Candles and crystals are two of the tools I love using the most, as each of them has its own magical properties that I can use according to my goals.
I use these (and other) tools in rituals: I set up the altar with candles of a specific color (based on my intention), and I may oil them or engrave sigils onto them.
I also use the corresponding crystals, minerals and stones are so powerful, and just by touching them, I can feel the entire strength of the Earth!
But as I mentioned, practice isn't always about grand rituals every day.
Sometimes I simply light a candle in the evening to say a prayer, for divination, during my ritual baths, or even while journaling or doing affirmations.
The simple act of lighting a candle and being in the presence of its light makes everything feel more sacred!
The same goes for crystals; I keep them in every corner of my house!
In spell jars or as amulets and jewelry that I wear whenever needed.
When I meditate, I often keep crystals on me to help with focus and relaxation.
When I don't feel well, I use crystals for healing.
Sometimes I place crystals next to my water bottle to charge it.
They are also valuable allies in purifying and recharging my magical or divination tools.
5. Do you have favorite crystals that you consistently return to? What draws you to these particular stones?
This is a million-dollar question!
It's very hard for me to choose just one since I use so many.
However, there are definitely a few that I have a special connection with, including: opal, moonstone, rose quartz, and amethyst.
These stones have meanings and magical properties that really resonate with me or that I often seek out; they are connected to love, feminine energy, serenity, and help me connect with the divine.
In fact, they are also linked to certain deities I work with.
These are the ones that resonate most with my energy, but in my practice, I also use many others.
6. For those new to incorporating crystals into their practice, what advice would you give for selecting their first few crystals?
As a first piece of advice, I'd say it's important to learn the theory before jumping into practice.
The first thing I would recommend is to buy books on the subject, watch videos, or read blogs where you can gather information about crystals in general.
Next, I would suggest figuring out what your goal is, ask yourself: "What do I need? What type of energy or vibration do I want to attract?"
Once your intention is clear, you can start searching for the perfect crystal!
For example, if you discover that you need more balance, you would look for crystals that promote balance; if you need strength, you would seek out crystals with properties related to strength.
When searching for crystals, I recommend first checking the brand or the store (since today there are many places selling fake crystals!).
Then, pay attention to which one draws you in the most!
Feel which crystal calls to you, which one matches your energy.
If you're in a physical store, touch them and feel which one resonates in your hands.
Once you bring it home, purify it and find it a special sacred spot!
7. How has your spiritual practice contributed to your personal growth and development?
I would say that my magical journey has had a significant impact and importance on my personal growth.
I've been doing this since I was just 14 years old, and when I look back, I can see how much I've blossomed and matured over the years.
As I mentioned earlier, I see magic as a true spiritual journey and a path of self-work, not just a collection of rituals or spells.
A true practitioner of magic works on themselves, digging deep inside to discover the most hidden and profound parts of their being.
Magic is a journey toward the discovery and acceptance of our shadows.
The constant and daily work I do on myself, my emotions, and my thoughts to raise my vibrations teaches me something new every day and makes me more and more aware.
Sometimes the inner work is exhausting, confusing, and painful, and I've had my own moments of crisis...
but when done right, it can truly lead us to find balance, peace, and a unique inner power!
8. Could you share a transformative moment where your spiritual practice helped you overcome a significant obstacle?
I have many stories to share because magic has always been a constant certainty in my life.
In every good or difficult moment, I have always relied on my sacred practice.
But recently, I've had a hard time.
I've always struggled with low self-esteem, especially regarding my body.
I didn't feel comfortable in my own skin, and I was convinced that in order to feel beautiful, I had to follow strict diets and do a lot of exercise.
I felt insecure, disconnected from my feminine energy, my sensuality, and my sexuality.
I wore clothes that didn't flatter me or that hid the parts of myself I hated the most.
I realize that this is something many women, and many people in general, experience, so I wanted to share how important my practice has been for me during this time!
By working with feminine deities, doing affirmations, mirror work, shadow work, and rituals, I not only reconnected with my feminine energy, but I also amplified it significantly!
To this day, even though there are still parts of me that I want to work on, I feel much more secure in myself and my body.
I feel like a more complete woman, more powerful, more in control of myself, and centered.
Now I feel good about myself (and I want to emphasize that my weight has remained the same; I haven't lost weight, it's just the way I see myself that has changed!), and I walk around with my head held high, showing the woman-goddess that I am, just as it should be!
9. With the changing seasons, how does your practice shift throughout the year?
As I mentioned, I personally follow the Wheel of the Year, so for me, each sabbat marks a turning point.
Each holiday symbolizes a change in nature that is reflected within me.
Following the natural cycle allows me to stay in sync with the energies that shift both outside and within.
Working according to these natural energies is very important to me because it helps me structure the year and its seasons, fully embracing the vibrations present at that time.
During the darker and colder seasons, I focus on shadow work, rest, reflection, introspective work, and embracing my own darkness.
In the warmer and brighter seasons, I try to rekindle my own energy, be bathed in solar power, and work on abundance, prosperity, and gratitude.
I also find this to be a beautiful way to sanctify the moments of transition and change we go through.
10. Do you have any special rituals or practices for significant pagan holidays or moon phases that our readers might be inspired by?
Well, I have so many!
On my social media, I often post witchy tips or rituals to do during certain times of the year, for holidays, or for other events.
I could write 1000 pages if I listed all the rituals I do during the holidays!
But I can tell you about my favorite ritual to perform during full moons!
The full moon is a very powerful lunar phase symbolizing completeness and power.
It is used to consecrate, formalize, or seal something, and personally, I often use it to reconnect with my inner power and feminine energy.
When there's a full moon, I feel invincible, wild, womanly, witchy.
I reconnect with an ancient and almost forgotten power, thanks in part to the rituals I perform.
My usual ritual is to cleanse myself of all the negativity and heaviness of the day with a nice ritual bath.
I use oils, herbs, rose petals, salt, and candles to wash away stagnant energy and recharge myself.
After that, I go to my altar, light candles (usually pink to invoke feminine energy), call upon the gods or my spirit guides, and the moon itself, asking to be bathed in its power, to guide me, protect me, and help me reach my completeness, just as she is complete that night.
I dance, let the energy flow through my body, and also charge my crystals and divination tools.
I often make an offering in return, sometimes honey, flowers, or wine, or I burn a small lock of my hair to bind and consecrate myself to her energies.
Once my prayers are finished, if possible, I simply sit by the window, watching the moon, feeling its light caress me, and sensing its energy filling me up.
11. What aspects of magic, witchcraft, or paganism do you feel are most misunderstood by the general public?
Unfortunately, today there are still many people who are ignorant and frightened by this world.
What we don't understand often scares us, and there are many prejudices and false myths surrounding magic and witchcraft.
I recently talked about this in one of my YouTube videos, since one of my goals is to fight the misinformation that exists around these topics.
Perhaps the biggest misunderstanding that still persists is that people think magic and witchcraft are malevolent or satanic practices.
You have no idea how many silly comments I get every day!
People say I'm a sinner, that I need saving, that I worship the devil, that I'm bad or weird.
Well, I don't do anything wrong—in fact, my practice helps me improve myself and assists others!
Magic itself is not "evil"; it is simply a tool, and it is up to us how we choose to use it.
We all have a knife at home, right?
But that doesn't mean we're all serial killers!
Most of us just use the knife to cut bread!
Just like that, most witches and people on a spiritual path simply want to do good and evolve as human beings, connecting with nature and their own energy.
And I don't see anything evil in that.
Of course, there are people who use magic for negative purposes, but that doesn't mean we should lump everything together.
My advice will always be to educate yourself before judging something you don't know or are scared of simply because it's "different."
12. If someone is just beginning to explore their spiritual path, what would be your most important piece of advice for them?
I actually have several pieces of advice!
One of the most important is: take your time and don't rush.
The spiritual path is not something you start, and a week later, you're at the end.
On the contrary, it is a journey that will accompany you throughout your life, evolving and changing with you, helping you grow through all the stages of your existence.
So, there's no need to rush or feel behind if it takes you longer to learn!
I also always emphasize that magic isn't just about grand rituals, but also about small daily magical acts.
Not every day are we in the mood for performing a big ceremony, especially at the beginning, but perhaps we can sit and ground ourselves for five minutes or place a crystal under our pillow for the night!
Magic is a way of living, and we can incorporate it into the smallest actions of our lives.
And I hope that all of you have a life full of magic!
